As you may know, CafeTran Espresso stores its resources (all the Hunspell stuff, links to your glossaries, etc.) inside the CafeTran application on your Mac.

If you reinstall the whole application, you will lose your own resources (unless you made a backup, of course).

You can easily solve this by creating symlinks from subfolders outside the application to the corresponding subfolders inside the application. I use Crax Commander to do this, but there are many other way

You can easily solve this by creating symlinks from subfolders outside the application to the corresponding subfolders inside the application. I use Crax Commander to do this, but there are many other ways.

Using symlinks is also very handy if you use CafeTran Espresso on more than one Mac: when you place your resources inside your Dropbox, they will be synchronized between your Macs.

There is also another advantage: on macOS Sonoma you cannot edit resources inside the CafeTran application via a macro, e.g. to use BBEdit to edit your user dictionary (to remove a typo etc.). If you place the user dictionary outside CafeTran, you can edit the resource.
