Dear colleagues,

from time to time I get DV satellite projects where some segments include two, three or even four sentences separated by a normal full stop (period) which I am not able to separate. Unfortunately they (an agency, of course ...) are not able to send a normally split project. I assume that the source is created with Across. Unfortunately they (an agency, of course ...) are not able to send a normally split project. I assume that the source is created with Across. Meanwhile I help myself with creating a dummy TM prepared by pseudo translation of all segments and importing that TM into a new project where I am able to split those segments. This workflow may be fine for my regular jobs of 8k words and higher, but there must be a different way to make the segments split on the creator level (= with DV X2 Workgroup, I assume), which I could propose to my agency. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

If the project is big enough, you may want to export the source to an rtf file and create a new project for the RTF file. DVX will do the segmentation for you, and you're good to go. Caveat: if there are too many codes {1} in the RTF file, it may take too much time to clean up before you can start to work.

I´ve already thought of it too, but ... Nov 28, 2013

... I cannot export into an rtf without having completed the project, so far my experience. I´m doing something wrong when exporting into rtf or it just doesn´t work when none of the segments hasn´t been translated. Anyway, thank you for your reply, Klaus, and
