I created a new project, I wanted to import an Excel glossary but the program says it cannot open the file.

Hi Irene,

Open your Termbase or create a new Termbase
(when creating a new Termbase I prefer the ATRIL Deja Vu X Template)

Then File > Import > External Data
Next
Specify Data Format: Excel 95/97/2000/XP
Next
Select Excel file to be imported
Next
First Row may contain Field Names in your Excel file, in that case check the appropriate box.
Next
You will see a preview of the Excel file
Import, e.g. English as Mai

Italian as Translation
Set the correct language and code page (preview helps)
Next, Next, Finish, Close

Done!

Be sure that you select the correct source language in the Source Language pull-down menu.

You want to import the Excel glossary file in your TermBase (TB), right? Then it is given in detail above.

But if you want to translate/proofread an Excel glossary, then you need to import it into your Project. To import the already existing translations, different methods are available for xls and xlsx files.

Selcuk, yes, I wanted to import the Excel glossary file in my TermBase, so I thank you very much for the detailed explanation. I managed to import it! At the beginning I followed the wrong path...need time to understand all functions
