salve
Without any idea of what this person is referring to, I'd just say "salve", which is a general pasty mixture of something which makes you feel better.
Good luck.

You may also say "ointment". Just a thought.

If it dissolves in water, then I'd just call it a TABLET.
Good luck.

I'm going with tablet, and since you were the first one to mention it, you get the points. Thanks for your help!"

pill
Pasta is the slangy generic name for pill, not the contraceptive, any type of pill: tablets, capsules, whatever capsules. The term is used mostly by the so-called lower classes'.

It does not necessarily dissolve in water, but it would have to be swallowed with water.

Note from asker:
But does it dissolve in water? Would that be an appropriate term for this type of medicine? |

paste

Hey, Kimberlee: if you had mentioned the name of the product, you would have had the right answer many hours ago. As a matter of fact, deferasirox comes in "TABLETS"

: I'd say this may be right (but don't really know) - salves and ointments are for external applic'n.; yes, pity we didn't get more information in 1st place...

Thanks, Rachel. Though with the name of the product available, we now know pasta is some sort of slanginsh expression, as the product comes in tablets.

Discussion
And, by the way, It seems to me that your last comment has to do with use of illegal drugs, possibly cocaine.
noun
: a soft plastic mixture or composition; especially : an external medicament that has a stiffer consistency than an ointment and is less greasy because of its higher percentage of powdered ingredients (Webster med. dict)
