Ca pourrait être queqlu'un qui répétait simplement une question qui lui a été posée dans une interview, p.ex.... Sinon, ça semble effectivement étrange...

Je suis d'accord avec Nathan - ici on ne sait pas si ça veut dire - this is really exciting, ou si c'est une vraie question d'introduction (is it : not very exciting, moderately exciting, passionately exciting etc.)

Without proper context, it's hard to be sure, but I don't actually believe this is a real question at all, but rather a rhetorical one, which is terribly common in idiomatic EN at the moment.
"How exciting is it to...?" is really like making the statement "It's really ever so exciting to...", or the more traditionally phrased (but still rhetorical) question "It's really exciting to.., isn't it?"
Be wary of making your translation ridiculous if this is not in fact a real question! (and it doues seem like it would be a rather silly question to be asking, if it were!)

Thanks, Emma! Oh yes, indeed, that's possible too — though I think the use of 'special' and 'culinary planet' does suggest that here it has a positive rather than negative connotation? I just can't believe it's a 'straight' question! Native speaker 'feel'
