English term

Cables (see context)

English to Spanish Law/Patents Law (general) Birth Certificate
Hi again,

Another doubt here: On the letterhead paper of the Office of the High Comissioner for a CommonWealth country, there is the following info:

Telephone: XXXX
Fax: xXXXX
Cables: XXXCOM, LONDON
Telex: XXXXXX

What do they refer to with "Cables"? Does anyone know how this system works?

Many thanks in advance.

Cecilia

cable

Es común que las empresas indiquen dirección, telex, fax, cable, tel.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks to everyone. Because of being a text inside a letterhead paper, I went for a short option of "cable". However, I like the option proposed for Manuel for another context "dirección cablegráfica" o "dirección de cable"."

cable / cablegrama / telegrama

Se refiere a la dirección del cablegrama de la empresa, creo que es eso.

dirección cablegráfica

En el español de Venezuela se dice “dirección cablegráfica”; es un sistema similar al telégrafo.

Saludos cordiales,
Manuel
