Dear Employee,
The results of your audiometric test recently have indicated that you have a ‘mild hearing impairment’ compared to other men/women of your age group. This could be due to noise exposure at work our outside work due to your hobbies, involvement in noisy activities or other lifestyle habits.
This type of hearing damage is irreversible, so it won’t get better and what you lose you don’t get back. Hearing deteriorates in everybody with age so older people have less hearing ability than the young. However, this type of damage is in addition to the general hearing loss over time and so you become more deaf earlier than other people your age.
We have identified this small amount of damage early due to the ongoing testing of your hearing. This is a warning to let you know that if you continue to be exposed to high noise levels more irreversible damage is likely to occur.
As we have identified this damage early, before the need to refer you for medical help, you can help prevent any further deterioration by:
Being more vigilant in wearing your hearing protection and wearing it properly;
Ensuring you comply with any other hearing conservation procedures in your workplace;
Reducing your exposure to excessive noise in your hobbies and leisure activities.
Hearing protection in the form of ear plugs and ear defender is available from Stores. Please ensure you use them at all times.

Translation - Slovak Upozornenie o miernom poškodení sluchu
Vážený/á zamestnanec/zamestnankyňa
výsledky nedávnej audiometrie preukázali, že v porovnaní s inými mužmi/ženami vo Vašej vekovej kategórii, trpíte miernym poškodením sluchu. Toto poškodenie mohol spôsobiť nadmerný hluk, ktorému ste boli vystavený/á v práci alebo pri aktivitách vykonávaných vo voľnom čase.
Tento typ poškodenia je nezvratný. To, o čo prídete, už naspäť nezískate. S pribúdajúcim vekom sa sluch zhoršuje každému. To znamená, že starší ľudia počujú slabšie ako tí mladí. Spomínané poškodenie postupom času prispieva aj k všeobecnej strate sluchu, a preto budete mať problémy skôr ako ostatní vo Vašom veku.
Vďaka vyšetreniu sme dokázali zachytiť poškodenie včas. Toto oznámenie je zároveň aj varovaním. Ak sa aj naďalej budete vystavovať nadpriemernému hluku, pravdepodobne dôjde k ešte závažnejšiemu poškodeniu.
Vzhľadom na vyššie uvedené, by sme vám ešte pred vyhľadaním lekárskej starostlivosti, odporučili prispieť k prevencii ďalšieho zhoršenia sluchu nasledovnými krokmi::
Dbajte na správne používanie pomôcok na ochranu sluchu;
Dodržiavajte akékoľvek iné nariadenia spojené s ochranou sluchu na Vašom pracovisku;
Vyhnite sa nadmernému hluku pri vykonávaní Vašich záľub a iných aktivít mimo pracoviska.
Pomôcky, ako sú štuple do uší alebo chrániče sluchu, sú dostupné v každom špecializovanom obchode.
