We are a husband/wife team; I am a native speaker of English who is fluent in Vietnamese while my husband is a native speaker of Vietnamese who is fluent in English. I have been doing legal, medical, and business translation since 1993 while my husband specializes in computer fields. We have also done significant work in the area of children's textbooks, both translating and writing. We work as a team, with one person translating and the other editing; this means that the translation is worked on by a native speaker of both languages which ensures greater accuracy. It also means we provide one-stop shopping for the client; we can both translate and edit the document, and also do desktop publishing (Word or Pagemaker).
Some projects we are particularly proud of include:
-A series of K-6 textbook projects in the areas of math, science, history, and reading; each project was from 100,000 to 200,000 words. We assembled and managed a team of translators and edited the final work for consistency and accuracy. Each project was delivered within the deadline of one and one-half months.
-A book of nine Vietnamese short stories translated into English and published by Yale University Press, titled "Literature News".
-Company policy handbook (sexual harrassment, intellectual property, etc.) for United Technologies Corp.
-Ongoing work translating patient education materials, medical records, and research study consent forms for Children's Hospital.
...And many more! Our rates are 15 US cents per word for translation (although for rush jobs or particularly difficult jobs we may ask more) and 5 US cents per word for editing. We can give discounts for large-volume jobs of over 100,000 words. |
