Da Italiano a Inglese Affari/Finanza Governo/Politica

I apologise if this is a trivial or obvious question. I don't speak Italian. I am translating a document in French, which mentions the resignation of Riccardo Petrella from Acquedottao Pugliese (a water company). The French document has cited its source as here: http://www.agi.it/english/news.pl?doc=200612071819-1235-RT1-...
and has consequently left the above as the "(Apulian) Bilance Commission" ! (Yes, it has left this so-called English term in the French document.)

I can see that this term is far from rare, but have been unable to find an English translation. I would guess it's something financial (audit? budget? - judging from kudoz entries for 'bilancio') and it appears to be related to regional government - after that, I am stuck.
