So I have Monterey or MacOS v 12.6 on the Mac side and I just installed Windows 11 22H2 on the Windows side under Parallels.

For my main work machine, I prefer to use a rolling release Linux distro, updated once a week. I have the latest version available of everything, from Firefox down to the kernel. But for my backup system, I'll just install a point release distro with a long cycle (like Debian Stable), so I don't have to update and upgrade it as frequently.

Other Sep 22, 2022

I use Windows and MS office, and since every upgrade since the turn-of-the-century has been disappointing, I try to resist the lockstep upgrades proposed by the company. I'm currently using Windows 10 on my main PC, and see no need to upgrade to what is bound to be yet another frustrating version.

Whenever it starts to get flaky, I take it to my own tech guy who sorts it out. And I avoid the official Microsoft "solutions" whenever possible.

My desktop is Windows 8, which will no longer be supported from January. Time to upgrade.

I don't like working with brand new versions of things, there are too many bugs and I don't think it's my job to help iron them out. So I always avoid updates.

I'm still running Windows 7 Professional on my PC. It was a very high spec when I bought it, so, for my work, it's still more than enough.

Which one? Sep 22, 2022

I guess my main OS is a Linux distro, which is bang up to date, but I also run Win 10 and MacOS X on separate virtual machines.

Monterey but Sep 22, 2022

I will not update to Ventura when it is released. Parallels Desktop recently sent a reminder that the PD 16 will not be fully compatible and will fail to offer a good performance on Ventura. So in order to stay with PD 16, I will stick with Monterey too for a while.

As for Windows, I have Windows 11 on the VM and I think it will be good enough until the next version.

On Ubuntu, which I don't use often, I decided to stay with the 20.04 LTS. I didn't like the newest 22.04

How do you find it?

I avoid buying upgrades early because they're full of bugs.

With Win. 10 I'm very happy, and not my list to upgrade soon.

I updated my Windows 11 v21H2 yesterday to v22H2 and it was a complete mess. I immediately rolled back to the previous version.
Some applications simply did not run anymore, things were not in places where they should have been.
