At home Nov 3, 2021

My "office" is in the corner of my open plan kitchen/living room, beside a window looking out onto the garden.

At home, in my study Nov 3, 2021

It depends very much on what I am doing. If I am translating I either sit at my desk in my little cozy study, surrounded by dictionaries, encyclopedias and reference books or, weather permitting, I’ll enjoy my garden table on the terrace. But if I am proof-reading or editing my dining table is the most convenient option.

In my study Nov 3, 2021

I work almost exclusively in my study (which doubles as the guest bedroom). I find it very useful to have a separate space for work - when I close the door at the end of my working day, I leave work. No temptation to do a bit more after dinner, no reading work e-mails, I have left work. Time for other things!

A combination of the above Nov 3, 2021

Mostly in a coworking space, sometimes at home. Switching places makes me more productive.

I have made an office corner in our living room. There's an unused bedroom I could use as a study, but I don't like shutting myself off. Right here, I command a view of the entire house since I can see people coming in through the gate, the front door, and going up- and downstairs, so I know where everyone is, and I can stop to chat with whoever is here.

I mostly work before everyone else gets up, and after they have left for work or uni or whatever. If ever I have to work on something requiring concentration while others are around, I'll take my laptop into the spare room, but I mostly manage to get everything done while I'm alone, it's never a problem.

My own office Nov 3, 2021

When we bought or flat, we bought it because there was also a room (21 sqm) in the cellar, with window that lets in sunlight, and there is also a radiator for the winter time.
And because it is separate from the flat, I can get tax reduction!

I would call it something fancy like a study, but it is in the cellar:-)

Difference between "home study" and "own office" Nov 3, 2021

Actually, there is indeed a difference between a home office and a home study. Also, after reflection, the answer "In my own office" apparently assumes (also not explicitly mentioned) that the office is not part of your home/house. Interesting article: https://focuspaces.com/2020/05/31/home-office-vs-home-study-is-there-a-difference/

In my own office Nov 4, 2021

It's one of the bedrooms in my house, but it's a tax deduction dedicated to office work, with a u-shaped desk, two desktop computers, an ergonomic office chair, books lining the walls, files, a small supply cabinet, and a closet full of extra supplies. I often think about getting rid of half the "stuff," but I'm usually too busy to take the time to sort out what isn't really needed.

I'm not sure how my brain would work if I took a laptop out to the garden or hardcopy of a text to review at the dining table or in a soft chair in the living room. The idea doesn't even appeal to me.

Alternating Nov 4, 2021

Half day in a common area of the house with 7 cats lurking and meowing, another half at Starbucks.

My own home space Nov 4, 2021

Since my recent move, I have now my very own space. An entire room just for my "office". I've just assembled my brand new desk and still need to purchase a new computer with a wide screen, but I'm happy to have a room dedicated to my work. That way, it "feels" like I can separate work from home life.

My room Nov 7, 2021

I have my home-office space in my bedroom, where I work since 2016. I have improved it with ergonomic features through the years.
