Discussion

Jenni Lukac (X) Feb 24, 2012:
I think that the whole sentence needs to be rewritten to sound well in English.
Charles Davis Feb 24, 2012:
@Jenni I agree. In fact I wonder if the appropriate translation of "sucesivas copias degradadas" is "degradation through repeated copying".
Jenni Lukac (X) Feb 24, 2012:
I agree with the term that Michael has offered, but would add the degradation referred to is a result of a copy being made of a copy of copy (sucesivas copias) rather than the deterioration of a single example.

degraded copies

"faded copies" is another option if we take degradar to mean break down or deteriorate chemically but from the little context here IMO degraded is better.

faded copies

negative photocopy inverts the colors of the document when creating a photocopy, resulting in letters that appear white on a black background instead of black on a white background. Negative photocopies of old or faded documents sometimes produce documents which have better focus and are easier to read and study.

Explanation:
Although digital photography has no true original copies, the media has developed the ability to have non-degraded copies, unlike film photography where the print never shows the same detail as the original negative.

For each resizing operation a new clone is made of the original, then deleted when the resized file is created, so each copy is made from the original, rather than from increasingly degraded copies of reduced-size copies.
