Spanish term

fluoroscopio en arco

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Instruments
Hi all -

I am translating a document on a patient undergoing treatment for a post-traumatic arteriovenous fistula.

I am wondering how this phrase is translated; fluoroscopio en arco. Am not finding it anywhere...

Here is the context:

El paciente se negó a someterse a una reparación quirúrgica con un bypass venoso femoro-poplíteo invertido, pero aceptó la opción endovascular. El tratamiento endovascular se realizó en el quirófano con la ayuda de un fluoroscopio en arco (Phillips BW300).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks Lorena! Do you want to submit this as an entry for points?

Your text is correct in this case they are making reference to the apparatus. And yes you are correct too it is a C-arm fluoroscope
Michael Meskers (asker) Jun 14, 2014:
I have found three typos in various spots in the original Spanish in this article so I am also wondering if they really meant "una fluoroscopia en arco." To me I think they are referring a fluoroscope as well.

If so, then it is probably a "C-arm fluoroscope"!
lorenab23 Jun 14, 2014:
Fluoroscopy vs. Fluoroscope Fluoroscopy is an imaging technique that uses X-rays to obtain real-time moving images of the internal structures of a patient through the use of a fluoroscope
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluoroscopy
fluoroscope /flu·o·ro·scope/ (floor´o-skōp) an instrument for visual observation of the form and motion of the deep structures of the body by means of x-ray shadows projected on a fluorescent screen.

FLUOROSCOPIA
FLUOROSCOPIA CONVENCIONAL:

C-arm fluoroscope

A C-arm fluoroscope is a device used by a physician to guide a needle to a specific area while watching that needle on a live x-ray screen.

Now enter FluoroNav, a navigational (surgical guidance) system that combines a conventional C-arm fluoroscope with a surgical computer. By harnessing the power of the computer with the fluoroscope, FluoroNav allows the surgeon to see many views of the spine from many different angles simultaneously, all with minimal x-ray exposure.

C-arc Fluoroscopy

The projection flexibility of the C-arc allows excellent anatomical views to be obtained from various angles.

neutral lorenab23 : Flouroscopy is the technique and not the instrument
