cervical spine helical tomography report: "Columna aérea central sin desplazamientos" -- would "columna aérea central" just be the trachea??? Can't see what else would make sense here. Thanks.

central air column
Referring, I believe ,to the larynx.
The established maximum glottic diameter of 24 mm was used to calculate the central air column volume. Mean laryngeal tumor volume from 8 representative laryngeal tumors was 4.4 +/- 3.1 cm3.

We describe the case of an unusual (unbelievable) giant wooden foreign body traversing the neck via the glabella. The relationship between the giant wooden foreign body and the nasopharynx air column was demonstrated through multidetector computed tomography (CT). The wooden foreign body mimicking air on a standard CT window setting was distinguished from air with the use of a higher CT window setting.

This is odd. For a start I am unable to find "columna aérea central", so could it be "vía área central"?:

Note from asker:
it is an odd construction... but I'm convinced "trachea" is what he's referring to. Maybe he just meant to say "vía" instead of "columna"... thanks. |

: Yes, it is a fancy way of referring to the air-filled trachea.
