Thanks, Noni! I believe getting alcoholic drinks to take home can also be referred to as getting a 'carry-out' but maybe that's just in Ireland.Then there are the people who buy alcohol to drink at home BEFORE going out!

Back in the day, when going out wasn't so expensive, people would go out for dinner or drinks, or both. Now, probably, most prefer to stay home or go out and dine and return home for the drinks, especially if you're with a group.
