There are also 'self-certificates'. These could be used in cases of absence from work due to ill health, when a line from a doctor could not be obtained quickly enough to give absence cover or sick leave formalities.
Employers should have self-certificates which members of staff could compete and return, if required. In so doing they could certify their own reason for short term absence, possibly less than one week.
