I came up with the idea of:
"By smite and blow we create with an arrogance...(that is changing thousands of years of evolution via an immature and dangerous technology.)"
...pero no estoy seguro!
What do you think?
"...tanto transgénico y tanta agricultura química, y a pesar de ello hay más hambre en el mundo y cada vez más esclavos. >> De golpe y porrazo nos creemos con la soberbia

: Lovely translation. Yes, 'de golpe y porrazo' should not be taken literally; it's a common idiom in Spain meaning exactly what you suggest. :O) :O)

Comment: "That's super, Thanks. I had particular difficulty with the 'golpe y porrazo' part of the phrase and ended up translating it less than eloquently. :)"

we arrogantly believe that by dint of sheer force
...we can overtake thousands of years of evolution
1 hr
by force and noise we arrongantly know it all
I'm sure this gets the meaning across, though "noise" could be substituted with "BS" depending on the target audience and, of course, the broader context.

Out of the blue, we suddenly believe ourselves capable of arrogantly (changing)
"Out of the blue" is informal, but so is "de golpe y porrazo", and I think the rest of the phrasing transmits the force of the Spanish original
