: I think it's important that you've added "students" after "Hispanic"; on its own "Hispanics" sounds awkward and possibly even derogatory (at least it does in British Eng).

Discussion
In British English it would be regarded as inappropriate or even disrespectful/derogatory to refer to the group as simply "Hispanics", particularly in written expression. Is this not the case in the United States?
