Discussion

Nick Saywell May 17, 2011:
Agree with Anthony In any kind of literary translation, I think the translation should certainly be "he pistol-whipped him". Hitting someone over the head with a pistol grip/butt sounds a little non-native except for e.g. police reports where precision is more important than style.
Anthony Bock May 17, 2011:
pistol whipping kad neko udari drugog drškom od pištolja to se zove pistol whipping

Thanks! I put "butt" because that's what I hear in the media when something like this occurs.

revolver handle

pištolj = gun, pistol, revolver

Postoje razlike:
"A gun is the most general term. It could be a pistol, revolver, rifle, air gun, or many others.
A pistol is less general, but still is a general term for a handgun. It would include single shot, semi automatic, and revolvers.
Revolver is a specific type of gun. It refers to the action, a cylinder revolves after every shot, rotating the next round into the chamber."

Pošto ne znamo o kakvom se tačno pištolju radi, meni je NAJZVUČNIJI bio "revolver"

Jedan od primera za udarac u glavu pištoljem:

"The jeweller was struck on the head with a revolver handle."
http://www.maltatoday.com.mt/news/national/updated-bailed-hs...

drška = handle, grup,...

Ali pošto je išao uz primer "udarca u glavu", odabrala sam "handle"
Peer comment(s):

neutral Nick Saywell : A pistol may or may not be a revolver. If it is a revolver in question, then I would agree with this translation too.
