In this case it might be that the students (who are in an education/pedagogy programme) both sing and learn some teaching/leading skills, while in this choir class.

"Ch. s." may also mean that the participants come to the choir not "just to sing" but to improve the skills and background knowledge. Still, the word "studies" (which puts emphasis on theory! e.g. "British studies", "Women's studies") seems a bit too big.
