Italian term

dolce attesa

Italian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
I know what this means, just can't think of a nice, punchy way of putting it--I am thinking something along the lines of a bun in the oven but somehow I doubt this would be appropriate ;) Thanks for putting me out of my misery!!

Lo spirito olimpico lega tutti: come quando la torcia viene portata a piccoli passi da una signora in dolce attesa…

"in the club" / to be with child

If you want the witty, punchy way ... then that's a possibility :-)

"To fall for" ... is also a very commonly and lovingly used expression meaning an expecting mum
Peer comment(s):

agree Christopher Burin : "mother with child" then. I prefer that to "in the club"
