No, I'm pretty sure they mean "path" in the graphic application sense as used in Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. See my answer to your other question re. "vector paths". What application are they referring to?

In this context, I think they mean "texture":

in graphics applications, objects are filled with a palin "fill", a gradient fill, a pattern or a texture to simulate different surfaces.
