A maths question from a university admissions test. Fortunately most of the test is quite generic, but there are a few maths questions in there and it has never been one of my strong points. Any help with this would be appreciated.
Quante sono le cifre del periodo del risultato decimale della divisione 10/11?
Does it just mean "decimal places?
If it's any help, the correct answer is 2.

it's just called "the period", although that explanation is given further along in the references, for instance at the Wolfram site. After having a look in the literature, it seemed to me that period belongs in a more technical text, or in a more the in-depth explanation.

Example sentence:
How many numbers are there in the repeating pattern of the division 10/11?
Note from asker:
Thanks, that makes a lot of sense given that the answer is 0.9090909090.... Is this usually called the "period of repetition" in English? |
Thanks. Given that this is a university test I think "period" is probably the better option, but your explanation helped me to understand what it means! |
