Italian term

acquisto di comparti

Italian to English Bus/Financial Finance (general) PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT - SUB-FUNDS
Am doing a translation regarding a series of sub-funds and keep coming across 'comparti'. Now I know this is sometimes used in the text to mean sub-fund and that it can be used for 'segment' or 'sector', but I have a feeling that I am missing something here.
Context example regarding the performance of a sub-fund:
"A partire dalla seconda metà dell’anno, mantenendo l’esposizione nell’intorno del 100%, è stata progressivamente ridotta l’esposizione azionaria al mercato russo, fino al 50% del portafoglio, in favore dell’Europa centrale, Polonia in particolare, e della Turchia attraverso *l’acquisto di comparti* generici di area sovrapesati in quelle regioni."
Any help much appreciated. TIA.

purchase of [stakes in] sectors

I'd say you're right in your feeling that something is missing. If you read in the words "stakes in" it reads a lot better and I'm sure that this is implicit in the original Italian anyway.

purchase of sectors

I think you can safely use "sector" here for both sectors of industry and geographical sectors. "Comparto" is a generic word used very widely in Italian, to mean any part of almost anything.

neutral Thomas Roberts : The name of your source looks like a bit of a mickey take. I used to read the morning star but it has a bit of a different take on the world in general.
