Hi - have nearly got to the end of this translation which was going great then hit this sentence - I have no idea what they mean by "barchette". If anyone can help I'd be really grateful.

I would go with "terminal straps" simply from the context. My suggestion finds some support in the two references that I provided above (taken together).
