Italian term

come il software impiegato viene distribuito sull'hardware

Italian to English Bus/Financial Computers (general)
This comes from a quality system procedure on product/service planning and in particular this phrase comes from the part discussing product requirements. The part I have difficulty with is more specifically 'viene distribuito sull'hardware'
A seguito della definizione dei requisiti, della pianificazione e della loro condivisione, il SW Specialist prepara il SAD “Software Architecture Documents” che contiene la descrizione dell’architettura dell’applicazione, i sistemi coinvolti, i software utilizzati e da integrare, **come il software impiegato viene distribuito sull’hardware** e le interazioni tra i diversi componenti.

Italian term (edited): viene distribuito sull'hardware
Selected

is deployed to the hardware

As per MS terminology, distribuire = deploy
It basically means "how to install the software on the hardware and setup it up so that it is ready for use".

I understand this paragraph as follows:
The SW Specialist prepares a document containing the following topics:
- a description of the application architecture
- details of systems involved/affected
- details of software applications used and to be integrated
- a description of **how to deploy the software on the hardware**
- interactions between the various components

(Note: this is not a proposed translation for this paragraph, but a representation of how I read it and understand it, which may help you better understand its structure)

(as if) like the used software becomes (are) allotted on the hardware

I think in the above case, "viene distribuito sull'hardware" means the software being used becomes (are) allotted on the hardware.

... the systems involved, the software utilised and to be integrated, like the employed software, are distributed installed on the hardware.

note: I believe the verb "viene distribuito" should be in the third person plural - this is how I understand this sentence

how the software is installed on the hardware

What drives me to believe that we're talking about installation are the key words "sull'hardware", not "all'hardware", which means "on the hardware", not "to the hardware".

Although logic dictates the software must be installed on the hardware in a specific manner/location (directory) to work properly, this does not appear anywhere within the rest of the text provided.

The definition of "distribuire" from DeMauro also seems to confirm the meaning of "install"

De Mauro defines "distribuire

v.tr.
FO
1 dare, consegnare a più persone: d. volantini, d. i premi, il posto ai ricoverati | assegnare a più persone, spec. secondo un dato criterio: d. i posti a tavola, le parti agli attori | dare a profusione, dispensare: d. sorrisi, baci, strette di mano; scherz.: d. pugni, calci

2 disporre in più punti, spec. ***secondo un dato ordine****: d. i libri sugli scaffali, il carico in modo uniforme

"to install" means to place something in a specific order/arrangement/layout (**secondo un dato ordine**) so that it connects and works with something else

Use install in a Sentence

–verb (used with object) 1. to place in position or connect for service or use: to install a heating system; to install software on a computer.

All of the above, in my humble opinion, point to a meaning of "install" , not "distribute".
