Is there something wrong with this, or is it just my inadequate knowledge of Indonesian that makes me think so? It seems to me to say that the contract is continued with “the heir who has died”, where it clearly ought to be "the heir of the person who has died".

i agree that this type of phrasing/construction does create ambiguity but in Indonesian (or Malaysian) it is not wrong or that uncommon.

It says “the heir who passed away”. Maybe you should check with the client?
