Community water supply systems in the proposed intervention area will be primarily gravity-fed schemes, or, where the context necessitates, pumped water supply either from groundwater or surface water sources.

Where households are situated dispersedly, the Organization and/or its local implementing partners including the municipal WASH unit will generally construct household systems or access points; due to low population densities in the areas where the Organization works, single, community waterpoints still require women and girls to travel significant distances incurring in lost opportunities for education and productive activities while also incurring in significant risks to physical integrity.

Household or small clustered settlement solutions include rainwater catchment tanks, improved hand dug wells, shallow borehole wells, and spring catchments. Where clusters of households, schools, or health centers exist, the Organization will construct a community or public-access waterpoint.
