The Uniform Commercial Code (“UCC”) is a set of laws adopted by the 50 states and the District of Columbia providing, amongst other things, for the public registration (or filing) by a party (“secured party”) of their security interest in personal property held by another party (“debtor”).
This filing often occurs when the secured party is leasing the property, or has advanced credit, to the debtor.
