English term

to radiate energy at so great a rate

English to Spanish Science Astronomy & Space A religious book about the Creation/evolution debate
Changes in brightness of quasars have been observed to occur in the space of one day. This means that they cannot be larger than about one light day (about 16,000 million miles) across. But if they are as far away as their ‘red shift’ indicates, it is impossible for an object of such size ***to radiate energy at so great a rate***. To overcome this problem, some astronomers believe that quasars are much closer than the ‘red shift’ indicates. But if this were so, then the ‘red shift’ is not a reliable indicator of distance.
