interview respondents
This is from a market research screening questionnaire, in which they refer to friendship groups. Below a quote from the text:
"15 consumers total: 3 x friendship groups of 4 (+ 1 over-recruit per friendship group)"
Googling, I found: Cluster or friendship groups are similar to focus groups. Groups of friends are interviewed rather than groups of strangers as per focus groups. When interviewed with a group of friends, respondents are likely to be more comfortable and therefore more likely to share deeper details than with a group of strangers.
In a cluster or friendship group, respondents talk differently than to strangers – perhaps more openly. If answers are perhaps not a true reflection of an opinion, friends are there to question and discuss an answer.
Is there a Dutch translation for friendship groups?

relatiegroep

the power of peer group influence

7. Friendship groups are typically classified as informal groups because they are usually unstructured and lack specific authority levels. In terms of relative influence, after an individual’s family, his or her friends are most likely to influence the individual’s purchase decisions. Seeking and maintaining friendships is a basic drive of most people. Friends fill a wide range of needs: They provide companionship, security, and opportunities to discuss problems that an individual may be reluctant to discuss with family members. Marketers of products such as brand-name clothing, fine jewelry, snack foods, and alcoholic beverages recognize the power of peer group influence and frequently depict friendship situations in their advertisements.
8. [shopping group] Two or more people who shop together, whether for food, for clothing, or simply to pass the time, can be called a shopping group. Such groups are often offshoots of family or friendship groups and therefore, they function as what has been referred to as purchase pal. The motivation for shopping with a purchase pal range from a primarily social motive to helping reduce the risk when making an important decision. A special type of shopping group is the in-home shopping party, which typically consists of a group that gathers together in the same home of a friend to attend a “party” devoted to demonstrating and evaluating a specific line of products.

Discussion
In this case I am inclined to use the expression 'An Odd Kind of Humour' and it involves a guy who, thankfully, can't get his head around it.
:-)
Have a good evening.
Google: 'focus groups' vs 'friendship groups'
THE FRIENDSHIP
GROUPS TOOLKIT
Part 1: Goodbye Focus Groups,
Hello Friendship Groups
RECRUIT
How is recruiting for friendship groups
different than focus groups?
• Friendship groups involve recruiting
one respondent to bring in two to three
people who they feel comfortable talking
about a specific topic together.
• The recruited respondent can come from
a recruiting database or customer list.
Generally they are the target audience
(user case) you wish to talk to and meet
the established screening criteria.
• During the initial recruiting process, the
qualified respondent must understand
and commit to bringing friends (coworkers,
neighbors, family, etc.)
