Discussion

Lianne van de Ven Aug 29, 2010:
In your sentence I would go for innovation core because I think it specifies critical thinking. It's thinking on the edge. Yes, there is a lot of lingo in this field but it makes sense to me.
Jack den Haan Aug 29, 2010:
We'll forgive you that Michael, if you promise never ever to do that again ;-)
Michael Beijer (asker) Aug 29, 2010:
Abstract Expressionist Marketing Lingo Oops, sorry about that everyone. I gave a context that was not my own. My text has nothing to do with Food Valley; here is mine: "Een specifieke inkleuring van de rol is te definiëren in het geval van een kritische functie/innovatiekern." Hmm.
Michael Beijer (asker) Aug 29, 2010:
(...) I was thinking of using "innovation centre", or "hub of innovation"

This seems another option, although I would need more context to be more confident about this answer.

innovation nucleus

I think you can also say "nucleus" instead of "core". "Innovation core" is in fact less usual on the Internet than it seems at first sight by the number of Google hits.
Example sentence:

Technological Innovation Nucleus of Paraná

The innovation nucleus lies in the curricular area of Art (Plastic Expression and Education)
