Dutch term

kadaverton/kadaverbak

Dutch to English Other Livestock / Animal Husbandry livestock
This is from a text on measures farmers must take to prevent the spread of animal disease such as MKZ, etc.
This specific sentence is part of the bit that involves regulations for removal of cadavers: De kadaverton, voor dieren tot 40 kg, staat op de kadaverplaats en is maximaal voor ¾ geladen.
- De kadaverplaats, kadaverbak en kadaverton worden direct na het ophalen van de kadavers gereinigd en gedesinfecteerd.
Bon appetit! And thanks in advance.......

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Jun 6, 2003:
US Don't know if this helps, but the text needs to be in US English......
Non-ProZ.com Jun 6, 2003:
two separate animals if you'll pardon the expression - it appears 'kadaverton' is for smaller, single carcasses (yuk) up to 40 kg., and 'kadaverbak' is where the whole kit and caboodle gets dumped before it's carted off........
Non-ProZ.com Jun 6, 2003:
carcass vs. cadaver thanks David - caught myself in that one too - Dunglish is running around my brain today.....

cadaver bin

This term is used in the website referenced below. It also seem a perfectly good short translation

In the website reference these are apparently closely related to the universal wheely bin, which would be amply big enough for a carcass up to 40 kg

perhaps the name carcass bin would be a better translation

kadaverbak = carcass skip
cadaverton = carcass bin

for AE you could use the term \'dumpster\' instead of skip
I have also found the term carcass barrel in use in a laboratory setting

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks all - upon consultation with the client, it appears that 'bin' is in fact the correct translation, even in AE. And 'container' appears to be the correct translation for 'bak.'"

agree Dave Greatrix : I would also avoid the use of cadaver when talking livestock
