Dutch term

betrekken bij hotels in de directe omgeving

Dutch to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
vooral meer betrekken bij hotels in de directe omgeving

I don't understand the above phrase which appears in the following sentence:

Meer persoonlijke voordelen zoals in andere hotels/restaurants, klantenkaart, overnachting/etentje met secretaresse dag...vooral meer betrekken bij hotels in de directe omgeving.

The above is the answer someone gave to one of the questions in a questionnaire. The question was: "Are there any additional benefits you would like to be offered?"

This is a questionnaire sent by a hotel to businessmen/women. The previous question talks about benefits that hotels give to people such as discounts on accommodation, free accommodation and free gifts etc.

I know what each of the words mean individually but still don't understand what this person is saying.

Thanks in advance for any help.

obtain from

This is the only other reasonable translation for betrekken in this context I think

Of course I should have written: obtain from hotels in the immediate vicinity

agree Paul Peeraerts : I think this is the only possible translation of "betrekken bij".

agree FionaT : Yes, they're using "betrekken bij" in the sense of "to obtain/procure/buy from".

more involvement....

I think what is meant here is... more personal benefits such as in other hotels/restaurants, like customer card, stay/dinner on secretary's day .. in particular more involvement with hotels in the immediate vicinity

neutral Paul Peeraerts : Involvement with other hotels is a personal benefit? I don't understand what is meant here.

Involvement is not meant as a personal benefit but rather the ability to use other hotels locally as if you were staying in them - joint collaboration so to speak - use the bar as if in your own hotel putting stuff on your own hotel bill perhaps.
