Dutch term

bevoorschotbar

Dutch to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
Google searching is yielding nothing on this one. The sentence is about goods being pledged and whether pleding has already taken place in the country in which the goods are stored and what happens if this is not the case: "Zo niet, dan zijn deze voorraden in principe niet bevoorschotbaar en dient correcte verpanding alsnog plaats to vinden.'

I've got to: If this is not the case, then no advance can in principle be made against the stock, and correct pledging would still need to take place.

Please can anyone add their thought/confirm I am correct - or not!

Your interpretation is essentially correct IMO. Compare ABN-ARMO's definition of 'borrowing base' with an English one:

-> "Borrowing base - Financiering in rekening-courant van uw debiteuren en betaalde voorraden. Hoe hoger uw debiteurensaldo of voorraad, hoe hoger de bevoorschotting. Afhankelijk van de kwaliteit van de activa is bevoorschotting tot 80% mogelijk. "
http://www.abnamro.nl/nl/zakelijk/financieringen_garanties/k...

-> "Amount a lender is willing to advance against the dollar value of pledged collateral. The borrowing base is determined by multiplying the value of the assigned collateral (receivables, inventory, equipment) by a discount factor, a process known as margining. In accounts receivable financing, the lender may agree to advance funds against 80% of current receivables. For example, the borrowing base of a customer pledging receivables of $200,000 is $160,000. As a rule, receivables qualify for a higher borrowing base (and a smaller margin) than inventory because receivables are one step closer to being converted into cash."
