Dutch term

Redelijkerwijze

Dutch to English Bus/Financial
"Daarna moet je de (lange termijn) strategie uitstippelen waarmee je dit doel redelijkerwijze zou moeten kunnen halen."
I have been struggling to find a convincing way of rendering the word "redelijkerwijs/ redelijkerwijze" into English. Solutions such as 'taking the principle of reasonableness into account', or 'in all fairness', etc. do not sound altogether natural, given the context. Any suggestions?

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Nov 30, 2001:
reasonably I was hoping to receive suggestions without the use of 'reasonably'. I know that this is the word Van Dale lists as a translation of "redelijkerwijs/wijze", but somehow 'you should reasonably be able' does not sound idiomatic to my ears. Any other brain waves?

reasonably or within reason

The sentence would then be: You should then define the (long term) strategy by which you should reasonably be able to achieve the objective. OR You should then define the (long term) strategy by which you should be able to achieve the objective within reason.

Another possibility is in fairness but that doesn't really fit in the context.

I hope this is useful

agree Lucy Spring : I would go for reasonably rather than within reason, as this has a very slightly different connotation to my way of thinking.

agree Thijs van Dorssen : First suggestion is great.

agree Pieter_H : Perhaps "deleniate a long-term strategy", but otherwise I agree.

agree Chris Hopley : First suggestion has my preference. I'm not so sure about "deleniate" [sic] though, Pieter....

agree Evert DELOOF-SYS : 'reasonably' is fine - would definitely not use 'within reason'

plausibly

If your specific aim is to omit the word "reasonably", you could go for this alternative:
"Subsequently, you will have to outline the long-term strategy, which should enable you to plausibly achieve this objective"
