Dutch term

Aujezski

Dutch to English Science Biology (-tech,-chem,micro-)
Geef nooit vers varkenvlees: dit kan zijn besmet met **Aujezski**, een varkenziekte die dodelik is voor honden.

It is stated here that this is a type of disease among pigs, but my reasearch so far shows that it is a type of bacteria. Does anybody know what this called in English?

Discussion

writeaway Apr 21, 2006:
you asked what it's called in English-you did not ask how it is spelled in English. So I assumed you didn't look at all. This was a question of Google, not medical, use/"expertise".
writeaway Apr 21, 2006:
my comments under Kate were made because everyone (non-native English speakers most of them) found the same term on Google right way. all you had to do was see which version of the spelling was used the most often on native English sites.

agree Kate Hudson (X) : Yep you got me on the spelling !

apparently a hard one all around, even on the same webpage (like the one from LNV)
neutral writeaway : I finally see the spelling difference between your answer and Kate's (thanks to rainerc). But the disagree is just joking I hope/some sites do spell it that way-a disagree when you have also answered appears more tactical than language-oriented

the disagree followed an initial agree (because Kate was quicker) and was given well before the other 2 answers, so it served a specific purpose (at the time)

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you all. The spelling is very important, which is why I could not find the correct answer myself, hence awarding points to the second answer. Writeaway, your comments are not very constructive, so I don't know why you had to add them. I spent a lot of time looking for the correct English version, not thinking that it could simply be a spelling mistake."

agree writeaway : if 4 people can find the exact same answer with refs, then why can't Asker? Research is part of the job I thought.

also called "peudorabies", the spelling varies from language to language. It is caused by a virus.

agree writeaway : I see that you escaped the disagree for spelling it in the less common version.as you say, it's spelled in different ways.
