Dit komt voor in een patienteninformatiebrief over de implantantie van een stent:
De onderzoekers willen nagaan hoe goed de stent werkt (hierbij wordt gekeken naar de doorgankelijkheid van de stent middels ultrageluidsonderzoek en naar de ernst van de klachten).
In beschrijvingen op het Internet wordt de term 'patency' gebruikt - heel mooi natuurlijk, maar voor een patient niet zo begrijpelijk. Ik zou het kunnen omschrijven als: 'check if there is adequate blood flow through the stent'. Of heeft iemand een beter idee?

I'm not an expert, but I notice that there are quite a few google hits for throughput in the context of stents. Many pertain to manufacturing aspects, but the term also seems to be used quite extensively for blood flow. Hope this helps!

Patient information forms should always be written in 8th grade English, so maybe this a less technical option.
Example sentence:

: Agree with KISS but in this case, the stent is already in place. They want to check how well it functions. Your suggestion would work better before the stent goes in.
