I would not have bothered with a Master's degree. Instead, I'd have finagled a way to stay and work in France after my TAPIF year. By now I'd be living in a houseboat on the Seine, with the financial leverage to prioritize my creative pursuits just as much as my work ethic. And the freedom to pull up anchor every once in a while. And a few cats.
